The club's Labor Day event will be on Saturday, September 6. There will be one 10-end game followed by lunch. The game will start at 9 am so please check in by 8:30 am. $10 includes lunch and bowling entry fee. Lunch only is $5 for club members and $10 for guests (lunch will start at 11:15 am). A sign-up sheet is posted outside the games shack. Note that new bowlers must have participated in at least three games prior to September 6.
Save the dates for a fall Knockout tournament Saturday, October 11 and a memorial event on Saturday, November 15. Details to follow.
Come down to the greens for a lesson or to practice on Tuesdays anytime between 4:15 pm and 6:30 pm. Free lessons are held Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and on most Saturdays at 8:45 am. No registration is necessary. All equipment is provided.

Join Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club members and guests for the Friday Fun Nite tomorrow. Social hour starts at 4 pm followed by a game (optional) at 5 pm. Please bring a snack to share and your own beverage and take this opportunity to visit with your neighbors.
The Club has scheduled a Labor Day tournament on Saturday September 6. Sign up at the greens.
This is a great time to enjoy summer evenings. Games are hosted Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings starting at 5 pm and an informal practice game is hosted on Tuesdays for new and experienced bowlers. Just show up at the greens anytime between 4:15 and 6:30 pm.
Free lessons are held twice a week, on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and on most Saturdays at 8:45 am. Again, just show up at the greens located next to Pool 2 in Gate 12. No pre-registration is necessary.

Did you know? Did you know that one of the difficulties for any lawn bowler is to become efficient in length. Short bowls that land short of the jack are generally not useful. It’s considered better to over-run the jack. Why? Short bowls are considered encumbrances; they prevent the skip driving into position; and they are generally considered a handicap to the skip.
Would you like to learn more about the game of lawn bowls? The Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club offers free lessons every Tuesday at 5:30 pm and most Saturdays at 8:45 am. No pre-registration is necessary. Just show up at the greens. Lessons last about an hour.
If you’ve already taken lessons but want to practice or help new bowlers, trainers Steve and Joan Narmontas and Ted Calcaterra will be on the east green from 4:15 pm until 6:30 pm on Tuesdays in August.
The next Friday Fun Nite will be held the fourth Friday of August, on August 22. Social hour starts at 4 pm followed by a game starting at 5 pm. Please bring a snack to share and your own beverage if you can.
Friday Fun Nite is an opportunity to visit with your bowling friends. There's no need to call in and bowling is optional.

Did you know that the Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club offers free lessons to Laguna Woods Village residents on Saturday mornings at 8:45 AM and on Tuesday afternoons at 5:30 PM? No pre-registration is necessary; just show up at the lawn bowling greens (Gate 12). The Club provides all equipment.
The Club also hosts games every day of the week—at 9 AM Tuesday through Saturday and at 5 PM Sunday, Monday and Wednesday—and monthly social events.
There’s no excuse not to try it. Get outside, get some exercise and have some fun.

Thirty-six members participated in a lawn bowling Independence Day event on Saturday, July 5, and fifty-seven members and guests enjoyed a BBQ lunch.
The monthly Fun Night is this Friday, July 18. Social hour starts at 4 pm and bowling starts at 5 pm. There’s no need to call in and bowling is optional. Join us and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors.

The Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling club is hosting an Independence Day event on Saturday, July 5. A game starting at 9 a.m. will be followed by a lunch at 11:15 a.m. Lunch will include grilled hot dogs, Italian sausages, “Beyond” meatless burgers, taco salad, baked beans, chips, and ice cream.
Bowlers should arrive at the greens by 8:30 a.m.
Please sign up by end of day today.
Bowling and lunch is $10; lunch for members is $5, $10 for guests.
The morning games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday now start at 9 a.m. and evening games on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesday start at 5 p.m.
Free one-hour lessons are conducted twice a week on Saturdays at 8:45 a.m. and Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. No pre-registration is necessary and all equipment is provided.

It’s a perfect time of year to take advantage of free lawn bowling lessons and to participate in the many social games sponsored daily by the Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club.
The club sponsors drop-in lessons every Tuesday at 5:30 pm and Saturdays at 8:45 am. All equipment is provided. Just wear soft-soled shoes and a hat. Greens are located next to Pool 2 in Gate 12.
The club hosts evening games on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday starting at 5 pm and morning games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday starting at 10 am (starting at 9 am beginning Saturday, June 28).
The Club’s Third Friday Fun Nite is Friday, June 20 with a social starting at 4 and an 8-end game starting at 5. Bring a snack to share and your own beverage. Bowling is optional.

Thirty-two club members bowled in the 2025 Memorial Day event on Saturday, May 31. The players were joined by other club members and guests for a delicious BBQ lunch. Thanks to Brian Tracey and Al DeSantis for making the day a success.

Lawn bowling is a sport where players roll biased balls (bowls) toward a smaller target ball called the “jack.” The goal is to get bowls closest to the jack on a flat, rectangular green. It requires strategy, precision, and teamwork, and is enjoyed recreationally and competitively worldwide by all ages.

The Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club offers a vibrant schedule for residents seeking fitness, fun, and friendship.
Free lessons are held Saturdays at 8:45 a.m. (no lesson on Saturday, May 17) and Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. The club provides all equipment—just wear smooth-soled shoes. No pre-registration is necessary.
Daily social games occur throughout the week, with morning sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and afternoon/evening games on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.
Members also enjoy monthly Saturday events and a Friday afternoon social on the third Friday of each month, featuring optional bowling and shared refreshments.

Lawn bowling is a game for all ages and abilities.
Like bocce and pétanque, it is a target sport played on a flat surface. Differences relate to delivery, the playing surface and bowl bias. For example, a rink or playing surface for lawn bowling is approximately 120 feet long where a bocce playing surface is anywhere from 40 to 91 feet long. also, lawn bowls are slightly flattened with a bias and bocce balls are perfectly round.
Laguna Woods Village residents and their guests can learn to lawn bowling at free, drop-in one-hour classes at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays or 7:45 am on Saturdays. The lawn bowling greens are located inside Gate 12 next to Pool 2.

Thirty teams from Southern California clubs recently competed in a Southwest Division Mixed Pairs Tournament on the Greens in Laguna Woods Village. Congratulations to two of the Laguna Woods Village teams who placed in the B group. Cindy Pham and Doug Bowbeer won first place and Patti Lewis and Gord House placed second. A big thank you, also, to all the volunteers who came out to support this event.
Three club members, Joan Narmontas, Steve Narmontas, and Steve Duckworth, recently completed the Bowls USA coaching training. Joan, Steve, and Steve volunteer their time every week to provide free lessons to residents on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm, Saturdays at 8:45 am and by appointment. No pre-registration is required and lessons last approximately one hour.
The Spring Knockout tournament will be on Saturday, April 12. Details and a sign-up sheet are posted at the clubhouse.
The next Friday Fun Nite is Friday, April 18 with a social hour at 3 pm and an 8-end game (optional) at 4 pm.

The Laguna Woods Lawn Bowling Club will host the Southwest Division Mixed Pairs tournament on Saturday, March 29. As a result, the Saturday morning lessons and the regular Saturday morning game are canceled. LWLBC resident members Doug Bowbeer, Cindy Pham, Brian Tracey, Joan Narmontas, Gary Barnes, Sheila Conti, Gord House and Patti Lewis are among the 60 players slated to compete in this tournament. Registration is now open for the Village Games. There will be four lawn bowling competitions: Men’s Pairs; Women’s Pairs; Men’s Singles; and Women’s Singles. All pairs will bowl April 7 and 8 and singles April 14 and 16. All games start at 9 AM. Register at the Community Fitness Center.

The tournament was established at the bequest of Wayne and Marilyn Bowbeer, longtime club members and parents of Doug Bowbeer.
